Ecommerce store Direct Heating Supplies launched in 2000, and has since grown to become one of the UK’s leading plumbing and heating retailers.
Having already designed and built a new Magento site for Direct Heating Supplies, the team briefed us on a new project in September 2016. The goal was to catapult the store’s traffic levels to new heights. Within 6 months, we are proud to say that we have met and surpassed the targets with flying colours…
What we set out to do
Using a combination of search engine optimisation strategies, we creating a bespoke strategy to fit with Direct Heating Supplies’ objectives and budget. Activities included:
- Research & Discovery: Understanding the lay of the land was crucial. Key intel included the behaviour of customers on the store and their key motivations.
- Technical On-page Magento SEO: The site was optimised for maximum search engine exposure, ensuring it operates to its potential. Speed and a user-friendly layout was paramount.
- Content Marketing & Outreach: Unique content – such as ‘how-to’ guides and evergreen blog posts – were created and strategically marketed.
- Link Earning: Content was shared strategically to earn quality inbound links. Key placements included industry leading DIY and building sites.
And the results?
At the starting point of the project, Direct Heating Supplies had an organic reach of 15,000 visitors per month. 6 months later and the traffic levels have increased by a whopping 300% to 60,000. Many of the website’s primary key phrases are ranked in Google top 5 results, and the site’s sales record for a single day has been smashed (it’s now three times the size, in fact!). A phenomenal increase in such a short amount of time.
